Frequently Asked Questions

Below are answers to some of the more common questions we receive:

How do I start the process of finding an appropriate attorney or law firm?

Simply go to the HOME page, click on the Legal Practice Area you are concerned with and provide us with your zip code (or county and state). A lawyer should be in contact with you to offer you advice by E-mail (or over the phone, if you provide a telephone number). They will discuss your situation and help you determine what your best course of action should be.  In addition, if you provide a brief description of the facts in your case or circumstances, the RiteLawyer attorney will also provide a FREE CASE EVALUATION or you may request a FREE CONSULTATION.

Is there any fee for using your services?

No, the service is provided free.  We are sponsored and supported by a flat monthly fee paid by our network of attorneys and law firms.

What states do you cover?

We have a network of attorneys and law firms specializing in all areas of the law (which we call Legal Practice Areas) . Legal counsel and representation is available for residents of all 50 states and the District of Columbia!

How long will it take for someone to contact me?

If we have a qualified attorney in your area, you can expect to hear from the local attorney within minutes to a few hours and certianly no later than the next business day!  If the matter is urgent, be sure to note "URGENT" in the box provided for the "brief description" of your case or legal concern  -  and be sure to provide a phone number as well as your E-mail address.

Am I obligated to work with the contacting attorney?

No, there is no obligation when requesting a free case evaluation or free consultation!

You may proceed to enagage the services of any attorney or law firm after you are 100% comfortable with the contacting lawyer and with the information being presented. (You are encouraged to also read the RiteLawyer Terms of Service and Privacy Policy before engaging the services of any lawyer.)

What happens if you do not have a participating attorney or law firm in my county for the Legal Practice Area which I require?

This situation actually occurs fairly often since there are over 3,000 counties in the United States - and with 50 different Legal Practice Areas or legal specialties - it would require over 150,000 attorneys in our database (1 for each Legal Practice Area in every single county in the United States).  When the situation occurs which you describe, we post your legal question, concern or facts regarding your case to our national database which is password-only accessible by the RiteLawyer.com network of attorneys. One, or several of them, from an adjoining county, or from within your state, or elsewhere, may contact you. You may, at any time, by simply sending your E-mail address to unsubscribe@RiteLawyer.com have your posting canceled and removed.

What should I put in the "Brief Description of Legal Concern or Facts of Case" text field when filling out the form?

Here are some examples of what to put in:

(PERSONAL INJURY / SLIP & FALL)
"I was in Sears last week and slipped on a wet and soapy floor they were mopping! I am in severe pain and the MRI shows that I fractured my back.  I didn't see any signs that warned 'wet floor' or anything!  Do you think I would have a case for a lawsuit"?
(PERSONAL INJURY / AUTO ACCIDENT)
"While driving on the interstate last night, I was forced to stop for a traffic jam and was slammed hard in the back by a UPS delivery truck.  I suffered a painful whiplash."
(MEDICAL MALPRACTICE)
"My husband suffered a stroke and I rushed him to the hospital. They made him wait in the waiting room while I did the paperwork and by the time they got him into the ER, he was deteriorating quickly.  Now the doctors say that his condition is permanent and that he will not get any better!  Does he have a good Hospital Negligence or Medical malpractice case"?
(FAMILY LAW / DIVORCE)
"My wife and I have agreed to get a divorce.  We cannot agree on how the assets should be split.  How much will you charge to represent me and how long will the process take"?
(CRIMINAL LAW)
"My 16 year old son has just been indicted of a drug crime (first offense) and was released to my custody pending his hearing.  Can you recommend a good criminal lawyer - or should we be looking for an attorney who specializes in "youth offenses"?
(BANKRUPTCY)
"I am getting way behind in my credit card payments and am tired of them calling me every other day.  If I declare bankruptcy, would they take my car?  What about the house?  Would I lose that too"?
(WILLS, TRUSTS & PROBATE)
"My mother passed last week and I am told that since my father pre-deceased her years ago, my sisters and I must now settle her estate.  We cannot find a will. Must we go through the probate process?  How long will that take"?
(BUSINESS LAW)
"We are starting a small family business which will be operated from home.   It involves marketing and selling on the internet.  The products will be drop-shipped from another state. Do we need a business license?  Do we need a sales tax license?  Should we incorporate or form an LLC"?  What are the differences, pros and cons?"
